National Technical Systems Opens New Offshore Computer Software and Hardware Testing Capability

CALABASAS, CA – September 26, 2005 – National Technical Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTSC) (NTS), a leading provider of quality and conformance testing and management services, recently announced the opening of its Vietnam facility to provide outsource engineering and testing services including functionality compliance, compatibility and interoperability for manufacturers of computer hardware and software. A team of computer programmers, technicians and engineers conduct the product evaluation programs or alternately, will hire and manage an evaluation team for a specific customer. The laboratory offers seamless services to international clients and is an extension of the popular NTS’ services introduced to the North American market in 1961.

“Following the trend of outsourcing software development requirements to overseas companies, U.S. companies are now outsourcing large-scale computer-related verification test programs to foreign companies to achieve lower costs,” notes Andrea Korfin, president of Solutions Group. “We have a top level staff, 24/7 response and a decidedly cost-effective pricing structure that will meet the needs of the largest, most demanding customer.”

NTS Vietnam provides services that range from software and automation testing for environments, to programming test suites to validate development code. Testing is conducted to user requirements and international standards including USB and WHQL.  The services include programming; compatibility, functionally, interoperability testing; establishing benchmarks; performance testing; load/stress testing; usability analysis; test plan development; and systems comparison. The laboratory has established international logistics to handle customer product and 24/7 video conferencing for convenient customer liaison.  The Engineering staff is available to develop test plans, test methodologies and execution test procedures, and can provide systems configuration and complete test bed setups.

The facility initially opened under contract to a single manufacturer is now open for all manufacturers offering capabilities that NTS has successfully introduced to the North American market. Modeled after NTS Culver City, it targets major software houses, hardware and peripheral manufacturers and service companies such as banks and online catalog firms use the NTS services to validate and certify products, systems, networks and Internet functionality. A key test has been saturation testing of Internet sites to determine if user traffic can crash the system.

The company maintains a multimillion-dollar library of software programs and applications and test farms of current computers and peripherals. The saturation testing utilizes a 2.5 Gigabit/s fiber optic connection. The technical staff members are certified in the popular operating systems.
